What devices work with Laso?

Laso works with any device that writes health data to Apple HealthKit. That includes Apple Watch, Oura Ring, Garmin watches, WHOOP, Polar, Suunto, Amazfit, Withings, and 20+ others. Visit the compatible devices page for the full list.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. While Apple Watch is one of the most popular sources, Laso works with any wearable that syncs to Apple Health on your iPhone. If your device writes heart rate, sleep, or activity data to the Health app, Laso can use it.

Recovery and Scores

What is a recovery score and how does Laso calculate it?

Your recovery score is a number from 0 to 100 that tells you how ready your body is for physical and mental stress today. Laso calculates it using six inputs: HRV, resting heart rate, sleep quality, sleep duration, respiratory rate, and recent strain. Each metric is compared to your personal baseline, not population averages.

What is a strain score?

Your strain score measures the total cardiovascular load your body experienced during the day on a scale from 0 to 21. Laso uses heart rate data from your workouts and daily activity to calculate it. Your optimal strain target adjusts each day based on your recovery score.

What is Vitality Age?

Vitality Age is Laso's estimate of your biological age based on key health metrics like HRV, resting heart rate, VO2 max, sleep quality, and activity levels. It is compared to your chronological age so you can see whether your body is aging faster or slower than expected.

How long until my scores are accurate?

Laso begins building your personal baselines from day one. Most users see well calibrated recovery and strain scores within about two weeks of consistent wear. Sleep need estimates and longer term trend detection improve over the first month.

Sleep

How does Laso calculate my sleep need?

Laso tracks how your recovery, HRV, and cognitive readiness respond to different amounts of sleep over time. Using this data, it learns the amount of sleep your body actually needs to fully recover, rather than defaulting to the generic 8 hour recommendation. Learn more about sleep coaching.

What is sleep debt?

Sleep debt is the gap between how much sleep you needed and how much you actually got, accumulated over recent nights. Laso tracks your running sleep debt and factors it into your recovery score and sleep coaching recommendations.

Health Monitoring

How does early wellness detection work?

Laso monitors several metrics simultaneously, including HRV, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, and sleep patterns. When multiple metrics shift from your baselines at the same time, it can indicate the early stages of illness or overtraining. Laso alerts you to these correlated changes before you might notice symptoms. Learn more about wellness detection.

How does stress monitoring work?

Laso tracks stress through changes in your heart rate variability and resting heart rate relative to your personal norms. When your autonomic nervous system shows signs of elevated sympathetic activity, Laso reflects that in your stress level and adjusts your recovery assessment accordingly. See the stress monitor page for details.

Does Laso track menstrual cycles?

Yes. Laso integrates cycle tracking data from Apple Health and uses it to provide cycle aware recovery scores and training recommendations. Hormonal fluctuations affect HRV and recovery, and Laso accounts for that so your scores make sense throughout your cycle.

Privacy

Is my health data private?

Yes. All processing happens on your iPhone. Your health data never leaves your device. There is no cloud server that receives or stores your information. Sensitive data is encrypted with AES-256 and encryption keys are stored in the Secure Enclave. Read the full privacy policy for details.

Does Laso upload my data to the cloud?

No. Laso is designed so it never needs to send your health data anywhere. All machine learning models and score calculations run locally on your device. There is no backend server that processes or stores health information.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Laso does not require an account, email address, or any personal information to use. You install the app, grant HealthKit access, and it works. Your health data stays entirely on your device. Anonymous product usage data is collected to improve the app, as described in our privacy policy.

Comparisons

How is Laso different from WHOOP?

WHOOP requires a dedicated wrist band and a monthly subscription. It compares your metrics to population averages and processes data in the cloud. Laso works with the wearable you already own, builds scores from your personal baselines, processes everything on-device, and uses a single affordable yearly subscription with no hardware purchase. See the full Laso vs WHOOP comparison.

How is Laso different from Oura?

Oura requires purchasing the Oura Ring and a monthly membership. While it provides solid sleep tracking, its readiness scores use population level baselines. Laso works with the Oura Ring and any other wearable, calibrates everything to your personal data, runs entirely on-device for full privacy, and adds strain tracking and early wellness detection.
